Hey All Windows’ Users great news… Be prepare for your next PC desktop operating system refresh : Windows 8 Should be here in a couple of years.
Windows 7 isn’t out the door yet, but Microsoft seem to be making good progress with Windows 8. Note though that Windows 8 is down as approximately 2012. Even still, it looks like Microsoft are sticking to their 2.5-3 year release cycle, with Windows Vista launching Jan 2007 (it was late), Windows 7 in October 2009 and Windows 8 in 2012.
In an official press release to celebrate the first birthday of Windows 7, Microsoft Netherlands reported that Windows 8 was around two years away, all but confirming rumors of a 2012 arrival that were first mooted based on information spotted on a slide at Microsoft PDC back in 2009.
C-net spotted that the Dutch Microsoft website let slip that the release date of Windows 8 isscheduled for around two years time. That would mean the next version of the operating systemwould be out in 2012, three years after Windows 7 which has just celebrated its 1st anniversary. That seems about right considering that Vista preceded Windows 7 by about three years. One of the Microsoft Dutch site has goofed that the release of Windows8 has been dated 2years from now.The publication was first noticed by Tom Warrens of WinRumors.
Please note that this is a translation of the text from Dutch Microsoft website ,Dutch to English using Google Translate :
The phasing out of Windows XP, Microsoft is nearing completion. In July 2010, the support for Windows XP with Service Pack 2 stops. Today Microsoft will stop selling Windows XP to PC manufacturers and the aftermarket sales of Windows Vista. For Windows 7, Microsoft Service Pack 1. This service pack is still in the testing phase and is expected in the first half of next year available. The first update of Windows 7 is the new version of Windows Live Essentials (explore.live.com) became available in mid-June.Furthermore, Microsoft is of course the next version of Windows. But it will take about two years before “Windows 8″ on the market. The latest news about Windows is available at www.windows.nl / blog.
The last sentence is the important one. The post, published on October 22, 2010 reveals that it will take another two years before Windows 8 will ship, which would fall directly in line with thepredictions that Windows 8 will be released in the end of 2012. (via).
